Common Situations
Experience any of these?
Drive clicking, grinding, or not spinning
Power it off immediately — do not keep trying. Mechanical failure needs specialist hands, not software tools.
Accidentally deleted files or emptied the trash
Stop using the drive now. Every new write overwrites the data you're trying to get back.
Computer won't boot or shows a blue screen
In most cases your files are still there — the OS is just broken. We extract the files before touching the system.
Drive reformatted or repartitioned by mistake
Formatting doesn't destroy the data right away. Recovery is still very possible, especially if the drive hasn't been written to.
Liquid damage or physical impact
Don't power it on. Bring it to us dry. Time and heat are the enemies here — acting fast dramatically improves the outcome.
How It Works
Four steps, no surprises.
1
Free phone consultation
Tell us what happened. We'll give you an honest read on recovery likelihood before you bring anything in.
2
Low cost diagnostic & flat-rate quote
Drop off at our Parkville shop (by appointment) or mail it in. We assess the drive and give you a firm quote — no pressure to proceed.
3
Recovery work
Professional-grade forensic & recovery tools, not consumer software. Most recoveries finish in 1–3 business days.
4
You verify, we deliver
You review the full file listing before transfer. Satisfied? We hand it over. If we can't recover your data, no additional costs.
Questions
What people ask us most.
How long does recovery take?
Most logical recoveries are done in 1–3 business days. Physical or complex cases can take 3–7 days. We give you an estimate upfront and call if anything changes. Rush service is available — just ask.
My drive is clicking — is it too late?
Not necessarily, but stop powering it on. Every attempt causes more damage to the read/write heads. We handle many mechanical cases in-house and refer severe ones to a trusted cleanroom partner — you get a quote before anything happens.
I already tried recovery software and it didn't work. Should I bother?
Yes. Consumer tools have serious limitations and can actually make things worse if the drive is physically failing. Professional hardware imagers and forensic software work at a completely different level. Bring it in — we'll give you an honest assessment.
Is my data kept private?
Completely. We follow Maryland's breach response guidelines, all clients sign a service contract, and sensitive data is securely destroyed after service. Your files are never accessed beyond what's needed for recovery.
Do you accept mail-in drives from outside Baltimore?
Yes. Contact us first and we'll walk you through safe packaging. We've successfully recovered drives mailed in from across the country.
